Dead Snow

The trailer for upcoming German horror movie Dead Snow

It was inevitable, and makes COD:WAW look prophetic.

I was catching up on some TV, and felt this was worth sharing:

I thought that impression was dead-on.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cornmeal Cake

Edit 6/10: Recipe added. -K

Long time no post, but I might as well begin again now. I think I’ll have a couple more posts with cigars, straight-edge razors, sharpening knives, and maybe archery. But for now, pineapple upside-down cake after the jump.

Southern goodness from a Korean.

Conan: Ryan Seacrest

Posted on Saturday, June 6th, 2009 at 11:19 pm.

So if you weren’t aware, the host changeover for the Tonight Show on NBC happened this Monday, with Conan officially taking the reins from Jay Leno. I’ve actually been really bad about watching Conan this entire year, but have watched each episode of the new show this week and can say that he’s stayed faithful to his style. I was also glad to hear that all of the staff has moved to LA with him, with the exception of announcer Joel Godard, who retired. His replacement, Andy Richter, now has a job. Perhaps they can recapture some of the chemistry they had in the earlier days.

Anyway, on Friday’s show Ryan Seacrest was a guest; he opened his interview by talking about his beef with Simon on American Idol, but Conan followed up with this gem:

This probably isn’t cutting edge stuff, but I figure most of the people who frequent the site may not watch American Idol.

E3: Natal

Feel free to disregard this, I am posting this mainly for my own amusement.

This is a clip from the Microsoft Natal demonstration from today’s Microsoft E3 press conference. Natal is a motion sensing camera/controller that was unveiled today; unfortunately for MS the beginning of the demo started out with something goofy like this.

That pond-hockey feeling

Posted on Monday, June 1st, 2009 at 10:12 am.

As anyone who really knows me can tell you, my hatred for Detroit’s red-winged wheel is unparalleled–and this is coming from a guy that deals with the Nazis and SS on a daily basis.

But even I can’t deny that the CBC (like the BBC, only Canadian, eh?) has made a pretty damn sweet commercial featuring the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins. It retraces, at times literally, how these two teams made it to this year’s cup finals again, after Detroit beat Pittsburgh in 6 games last year. Series by series, goal by goal, it does so, and it manages to capture the feel of hockey better than any other commercial I’ve ever seen. Enjoy.
