My Threesome With Jesus

Posted on Saturday, May 30th, 2009 at 3:29 pm.

God, if you’re reading this, I’ll tell you all about it at confession. Forgive me father for what I’m about to write.

I should say upfront that I consider myself faithful and religious. I go to church on a quasi-regular basis and sing along while there. I draw the line at clapping. Faith has gotten me through some tough times and decisions—and by tough I don’t mean choosing which car to take to work or whether to wear khakis or chinos (always chinos).

But recently, I had a first date with a girl who knew Jesus. We had met through Match and had emailed a bit before agreeing to meet at the epicenter of first dates: Starbucks. She, a self-proclaimed coffee snob, and I, a coffee virgin, were destined for greatness.

Juggling Women

Posted on Thursday, May 28th, 2009 at 4:17 pm.

After a dating drought, I have established some new leads.

So I was gchatting with a girl earlier today and had the following quote as my status message from Hamlet 2:

“It’s a slippery slope… beer, liquor, dope, coke, meth, chicks with dicks, then jail!”

She hadn’t seen it.

Flashback: Sophomore Year Timelapse

Posted on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 at 2:17 am.

Edit: If you’re curious, this is from a north-facing window of Shepard R.C.

I was going through some of my older files randomly and stumbled upon some archives of webcam pictures taken during freshman and sophomore years, when I had set up an automated uploading system.  I figured it would be fun to compile into a video so you can watch.  This is roughly a 6 day period up to Halloween of 2004…almost 5 years ago.

Most of it is pretty similar to the rest, but you should at least check out the 3rd minute for the shadows.  If you’re curious, it’s running at 60 fps, with the cam taking pictures every 30 seconds; every 2 seconds of video is 1 hour passing.

Med School: First Year

Posted on Saturday, May 16th, 2009 at 11:49 pm.

Edit 5/18: Added a 30 Rock clip to the end.

Even though I still have about a month of school left, I figured I’d write a little something about the year since most schools have finished up now. Speaking of which, I don’t think I’ve ever finished the school year before June since Kindergarten.  Thanks NU quarter system and longer MS1 year.

The first year of medical school is probably one of the most remarkable years in the four that a med student experiences; I use the word remarkable not in the ‘amazing’ or ‘fantastic’ manner, but due to the fact it’s probably the one most people talk about. This is most likely due to the signature course of medical education, Human Anatomy.  You may remember I *already wrote a post regarding that.  Alison also *wrote briefly about her first year back in September, just as she was beginning her second year.

Slap Chop Remix: Legendary

First of all, watch this infomercial.  Skim it or skip it if you like, but I think it makes the following parody funnier.

And now enjoy the remix:

The Best Save in Years

Posted on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at 6:15 pm.

UPDATE 5/5: The ten best stick saves in history:

Simeon Varlamov’s save is probably the most impressive save since Patrick Roy’s (similar, but 2 feet in the air) save on Wes Walz in the first round of the 2003 playoffs.,3,221&event=WSH433
