Edit 4/28: Today Cablevision announced a new ‘Ultra’ plan with 101 Mb down / 15 Mb up for $99 a month, no caps.  It is a nice contrast to the $60 I paid in Madison for 15/5.

Edit: Here is a *related article from the Economist about recent trends in Television over Broadband.

Time Warner Cable and Tiered Internet Pricing

TWC (or what you may know as RoadRunner) was planning on implementing tiered internet pricing in some of their markets  (*NPR).  Basically this was the idea of charging the heavier bandwidth users more money for services, and less for lighter users.  Makes sense, right?  In any normal supply and demand situation, this would be proper conduct.  After an announcement that they’d be commencing ‘trials’ of the new pricing model in select areas, like Rochester NY and Beaumont TX, there was quick and well-heard controversy (*Example), thanks to our great Internet.  TWC soon released another announcement that they’d be delaying the roll-out and would keep to their normal pricing for the moment (*More NPR).

Well isn’t this interesting:

While perusing some of the recent visitors, I saw that we had someone from New Zealand (would be fun to visit there some time).  More interestingly, this person was looking for softpillowcases.  I’m wondering if they visited the *About page after stumbling on the site.

What’s amusing is that I recently was talking with Andrew about how I had actually taken pride in the fact that it’s relatively hard to find this page through Google.  The closest thing that comes up is my twitter, but seriously, who follows those?

I doubt this person will return, but if you do, sorry (again).

I was watching this live last night, and jumped about a foot in the air when it happened. Even though my team lost, it’s just amazing.

Since I have done my part to save the automobile industry by buying an imported car, I am now moving on to save the disintegrating print industry. As a former student of journalism, I have a strong allegiance to the journalists who have made it. After graduation, I gave the job hunt the ‘ole college try to find a job in the media, but the editors didn’t want any of this. My duties were needed elsewhere.

Nevertheless, I have put my grudges aside and have decided to do my part as a college-educated, literate man to (orchestral fanfare) SAVE THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY.
