Microsoft Z2K Problem: Zunes crash at Midnight Dec. 31, 2008 – Jan. 1, 2009 (You can't make this up…)
Posted on Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 at 6:12 pm.“Discussions board like ZuneUser.com, ZuneScene.com and Zune.net offer first-hand accounts of the problems with Microsoft’s music player. It seems the Zunes reboot, then freeze once the status bar reaches 100 percent.
Some are calling it the “Z2K” problem, playing off the infamous Y2K bug that many thought would throw the computing industry in chaos at the beginning of the century when dates changed from 1999 to 2000. That’s because the problem seems to have started at exactly midnight PST Wednesday — the first moments of the last day of 2008.”
Honestly, how does a problem like this escape testing? Especially with the whole Y2K deal with Windows before the year 2000. One would have thought they’d be especially sensitive to those kinds of issues. Also, how can they possibly catch up to the iPod when they let crap like this out of the bag.
(Btw I just got a new iPod Nano so I’m sitting here laughing at this.)
