Another reason to be a proud resident of Long Island

Because we are classy people:,0,167903.story

This poor sap not only had the job of being the guy who greets you when you walk into the  store, but of getting killed when the crowd literally broke the doors down at opening.

After announcements were made to customers to stop and exit the store after the trampling, most people kept shopping.  Sure gives you new faith in your fellow human being.

Happy Thanksgiving!

GH gone viral

Vishal actually posted this a few days ago, but I deleted it because he posted a bunch of other things the same day. I also found it previously and was going to put it up, but forgot about it until now.

Nationwide Rickroll at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade by Rick Astley Himself (His First)

Posted on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 at 3:02 pm.

Yes, if you were watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, you should have noticed that Foster’s (I believe) pulled a Rickroll, obviously staged, on the audience. The announcers and NBC were in on it, and it’s the first time Rick Astley has actually participated in one.

I Kind of Wonder What to Think About This.

I’m sure some of you may have seen this thread by now; it’s been making the rounds around the internet over the last ten or so days, the thread has had thousands of viewers at any given time, and it’s been linked to multiple other widely viewed forums.

At first, I was like “lulz epic troll”, then I was like “well those pics are real even if the poster is just trolling with them;” and finally after a couple dozen pages of the responses, I kind of just hope they never see it although they probably have some idea of what’s going on…; when your MySpace page gets tens of thousands of views and you change it to private, you must have some idea of what’s going on…

Now, however, the boom has been exposed as something of a bubble of sorts, which has saddled most of Dubai’s real estate companies with mountains of debt and threatens the emirate’s viability as well as the current structure of the UAE. The housing bubble has burst around the world and especially in the areas which experienced the largest part of the boom such as Dubai, London, California, and Florida. Dubai’s main problem is that it’s economy hasn’t been diversified (as I covered tangentially in a reply to that blog post) and as such they far and away the most exposed to the housing bust since their boom has been entirely debt financed.

For those of you who don’t know about the UAE’s current structure; it is a loose confederation of 7 states. Think of a system closer to the EU or under the original Articles of Confederation of the US as opposed to the current US Constitutional government.
