The Start of a New Decade

Posted on Thursday, January 13th, 2011 at 12:49 pm.

2011 – doesn’t that sound oddly futuristic?  People felt that once 2001 rolled around that we had hit that weird point in time where we were treading on the future settings of past movies and movies (namely the one that used that year as its main title), but don’t you feel like 2011 also gives a similar connotation?  It seems a little less pretentious too, somehow.

I haven’t really posted anything significant for the past year and a half, and I can see why journals like this eventually dissipate; the immediacy of daily life just takes precedence and there are just other things that time can (and should) be spent on.  The site has been around for a full 4 years now, which isn’t any amazing landmark, but it does make me feel a little older, considering I was finishing up with college when I first started it.  I still plan on keeping it up for some time, and hopefully with some improved content.

Recently I went on a 2 week trip to Japan, to try to get a fuller experience of the country and culture, and I will do my best to get around to writing about it and sharing whatever I recorded in my logs or photos.  Long time readers of the site would remember that my first few posts were of my brief trip 3 day trip to Japan and subsequent trip to Korea in the holiday of 2006; the new material should show some kind of improvement in both scope as well as maturity (one can hope).

So I know not a ton of people come here regularly anymore, but I just wanted to let everyone know that today Patrick got married!  Awesome news!

He will also be traveling to Germany next week; who knows, maybe he’ll regale us with some tales from overseas.

Alaska: Hiatus

Yeah, so you probably noticed that my slew of cruise pictures has stopped.  I’ve actually been a bit busy moving to another house before school starts up; things are mostly done but my main computer is still not set up.

Saw this gem while walking around in NYC yesterday.

I’ll also be away for a while in the next two weeks, so the rest of the pictures will probably be up near the end of August, for those of you actually interested.

iPod Mini Upgrade Guide

Posted on Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 at 1:26 pm.

Just a notice: I’ve started a *Guide section on the site, where I’ll be posting walkthroughs for various projects I complete.  The link is located on the navigation column on the right of this website, along with the other standalone pages.

I put up the first one, showing how *I upgraded the battery life and storage capacity of my iPod Mini.

Well isn’t this interesting:

While perusing some of the recent visitors, I saw that we had someone from New Zealand (would be fun to visit there some time).  More interestingly, this person was looking for softpillowcases.  I’m wondering if they visited the *About page after stumbling on the site.

What’s amusing is that I recently was talking with Andrew about how I had actually taken pride in the fact that it’s relatively hard to find this page through Google.  The closest thing that comes up is my twitter, but seriously, who follows those?

I doubt this person will return, but if you do, sorry (again).

2 Years

Yes, those are ballet bears.

My Fake Site: Synapse has now been around for two years!  We’ve also been at for one year, and a great domain it has been…much easier to remember than

I was dicking around last night and took a look at the earliest entries on the site, and even though it was fun to read my old posts, I’m happy I was able to expand the authorship; I’d like it more if some of you wrote (or even visited) more often, but it’s still good nonetheless.

We’ve reached 6k hits today, which keeps up with the new pace of about 1k hits for every other month…pretty impressive considering the whole first year didn’t get too much more than 900 or so.

Come January the site will be having its 2nd anniversary; spread the love, link your friends.
